The 2012 ANZAC Day Dawn Service at North Bondi War Memorial.

The first ANZAC Day at the New War Memorial was a moving and significant event for the greater Bondi community. Bringing all of us together in remembrance of those who served, and sending our thanks and hope to those who are serving.

Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith, VC, MG visits

Pictured (L-R) are Senior Advocate Norb Keough, Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith, VC, MG and Welfare Officer Ray Johnson. On 13 April 2012 Corporal Roberts-Smith visited the North Bondi RSL Sub-Branch and Club where over 75% of the Sub-Branch members are currently serving in the Australian Defence Force.

On 13 April 2012 Army Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith, VC, MG visited the North Bondi War Memorial and North Bondi RSL Sub-Branch and Club. Cpl Roberts-Smith is the most highest decorated soldier currently serving in the Australian Defence Force. Fred D. Alderman, President, Trustee & Welfare Officer

Fred joined the League in October 1976 and was re-elected to a fourth term as Sub-Branch President in March 2012. He is a past Sub-Branch Secretary, Treasurer and Delegate on the District Council. Fred is also one of three Trustees. Whilst on active duty with the Army Fred served with 1RAR in Vietnam. After he left the Army in 1969 he became a butcher and owned his own business until his retirement.

Dave joined the League in November 1989 and is the Sub-Branch Patron. He is a past Honorary Secretary. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his service in Vietnam with 1RAR.

Dave joined the League in June 2004 and was re-elected to a fourth term as Sub-Branch Senior Vice President in March 2012. He is also a one of three Trustees and has served as a past Treasurer. Dave holds a Bachelors degree in Politics and a Masters of Business Administration degree. In civilian life Dave is an executive for Hewlett-Packard.

Bill joined the League in May 2001 and was re-elected to a third term in March 2012 as Sub-Branch Junior Vice President. He has previously served as a Committee member since 2007.

Norbert Keough, JD, JP, AFAIM, Honorary Secretary & Advocate

Norbert joined the League in April 2009, and in March 2012, was re-elected to a third term as Sub-Branch Honorary Secretary and Delegate to RSL NSW Congress. He was a Delegate on the District Council from 2009-11. Norb, a DVA-TIP trained advocate and a non-practicing barrister, is a member of the New South Wales Bar Association. He holds a Juris Doctor degree, is a NSW Justice of the Peace, and advocates pro bono for active duty Australian Defence Force servicemembers, reservists, veterans, war widows and dependents before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal on DVA claims.
